There are a few good exericises you can do to help strengthen your back. A good one is a plank where you would get in the position of a pushup but hold yourslef up on just your elbows/arms and toes.
Another way to strengthen the back is to lie flat on your back and lift your legs. It will work your abs too.
Keep in mind that the best way to reduce "love handles" is through regular cardio exercise. Walking is a simple, but effective way to do this.
Also, watch your diet and make healthy choices.
