» Feature Writer Kelby Carr - Peanuts... good or bad?

Hello. This is a great article! And a great idea. I tend to eat what is available. If it's good food, then I eat well, and if it's bad, the same.

I'd like to be a voice in favor of peanuts (and other nuts), though. Although they do have fat, they have good fats. They also have been shown to prevent diabetes (at least in a study of people who had a tablespoon of PB a day). Anyway, you don't want to go nuts eating them, so to speak, but I wouldn't toss them.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! Though I didn't go into details in the article, there are good and bad nuts. Typical snacking nuts like peanuts and cashews are not good choices, while almonds and walnuts have good fats and can be consumed in small amounts while maintaining a healthy diet.

Peanut butter is another good source of protein, but should be limited to 1 Tablespoon per day because of it's high fat content. Try to include more lean meats in your diet if you are looking to add more protein.
