Judges put an X on many acts claiming to have talent before approving the Plus size Pussy Cat Dolls and pushing these ladies through to the next round of auditions.
They all seemed to be impressed by this group of overweight women in skimpy clothing, dancing and singing to "Lady Marmelade." The women were attractive enough and sang well enough, but the question is: should plus size acts be accepted? Will the public vote for them?
From the sound of the audience's reaction they will. The crowd seemed to love them. But more than anything, I think they were excited to see something different. I know I am sick of seeing juggling acts, magic shows, outrageous acts and sweet singing kids. The Plus Size Pussy Cat Dolls were the cure for something different.
I have a conficted opinion about this though. As much as I would love to see overweight or plus-sized women succeed in this world and change how the world sees us, I would also prefer it be done in a more conventional manner. Maybe it is just the prude in me, but I don't think you need to expose too much flesh on TV to get your point across that big is beautiful. For me, it would have been more beautiful if they dressed in nice clothes and sang their hearts out.
I do give the Plus Size Pussy Cat Dolls a big hand though for being brave enough to go on a show like America's Got Talent to be judged.
