It only takes 21 days to create a habit. With Lent here, its the perfect time to choose an item to give up to make healthy lifestyle changes.

Lent is an opportunity to make lifestyle changes. Six weeks is more than enough time to create a new habit that will stick. This can be anything from giving up unhealthy habits like drinking beer, smoking, drinking pop or eating junk food. It can also be non-food items like giving up some of your TV time or committing to a daily walk.

Lent is a great time to start making changing in your life, one small step at a time. Start by analyzing your current lifestyle to see what is working and what isn't. Most of us have some sort of vice we know we shoudl give up. For those of us trying to lose weight, it is a no-brainer. We can choose to give up sugar, carbs, pop, articicial sweeteners, etc. We can also choose to drink more water, get daily exercise, or eat more fruits and vegetables.

Lifestyle changes don't come easy, but with Lent, you can use the time to work on making one change at a time until you have made the switch successful.

What will you be giving up? Join the discussion.
