Control insulin levles and make weight loss possible by combining diet and exercise. Duke University study shows the benefits this has for people with metabolic syndrome.

40 million people in the U.S, have syndrome X, though it is rarely detected or treated by doctors. Often referred to as insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome, syndrome X is a group of health factors that put people at greater risk of heart disease and have a noticeably more difficult time losing weight.

Researchers at Duke University found that when adults with syndrome X combined exercise and dieting together the results were much better than either action taken alone.

The study showed that those on an exercise and weight loss program combined had a 47% reduction in insulin production. Those who just exercised and ate as they normally did also reduced their insulin production, but only by 27%.

The study featured people doing a modest amount of exercise 3-4 times a week and gradually reducing their calorie and fat intake. The study lasted for 26 weeks.

This is good news for people with syndrome X who are trying to lose weight. It shows the importance of sticking to your diet while exercising to lower your insulin and make losing weight a little easier.
