There is recent evidence that suggests there is no harm done by women who weight themselves frequently. Some experts recommend daily weigh ins to monitor weight loss and weight gain patterns and hold yourself accountable for your diet and exercise.
Research at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health have made it clear that women don’t get depressed due to daily weigh ins. In fact, the study showed that women over 40 who weigh in daily have a lower BMI than those who don’t weigh in frequently.
The key to tracking your progress is to take the measurement on the scale at the same time everyday and that you wear the same thing when you weight yourself. Preferably, you should weigh yourself in the morning before getting dressed.
Though seeing a weight gain on the scale may change your mood, it is not linked to depression. Seeing a weight gain should motivate you to do better on your weight loss plan and analyze your diet and exercise to see what you may be slipping up on.
