Celebrity Fit Club, Season 5, Men vs Women has finally come to an end. Although I am normally a fan of this show and the expert panel, I was disappointed that this season was robbed by Dustin Diamond who refused to play by the rules of Celebrity Fit Camp and ate whatever he wanted to hold his own personal experiment on the show. The problem is that the show was founded on teamwork and team weight ins. Dustin had no interest in being a team player. Some weeks he even gained weight.
Though Dustin didn't impress me with his cocky attitude and minimal weight loss, others did prove it to themselves that with hard work and support they could lose unwanted pounds. Maureen lost more than 22% of her body weight, making her the individual winner of Celebrity Fit Club 5. Ross lost an impressive 37 pounds and was able to tuck his shirt in and wear a belt.
The focus of the finale was no different than the entire season of Celebrity Fit Club though. Weight loss was not the only topic since Dustin caused more drama (surprise!) by mimicking and making fun of Cledus and Brat. They, in turn, got defensive, and rightly so. Dustin wanted to be sure than no amount of weight loss by any other contestant on the show would top his dramatic antics, wearing wigs and grabbing his crotch.
The other celebrities aren't the only thing Dustin mocked either. He made fun of the entire process of Celebrity Fit Club by eating whatever he wanted and refusing to exercise. "I can eat crap and lose weight," he said.
He had his own experiement over the course of the season to see if he could lsoe weight without doing anything. He pulled off a 13 pound loss in the final weight in. The judges, however, were not impressed, especially after hearing he had been taking fat blockers.
I can only hope that next season has a better cast with people who actually want and need to lose weight. I'd also like to see them put more focus on Dr. Ian's book, the Extreme Fat Smash Diet.
