Biggest Loser special highlights past contestants who lost weight and kept it off. Their maintenance required big lifestyle changes and a lot of support.

Contestants won our hearts on the Biggest Loser when they shed just as many tears as they did pounds. The one question that fans and critics alike continue to ask is “did they keep the weight off?”

The contestants on the Biggest Loser were sheltered in a way because they were able to escape their jobs, environments and families to focus only on themselves. They worked out for hours a day and learned new eating habits. But could they keep it up once they returned home to the pressures of their daily lives. Could they maintain their weight loss?

Alison Sweeney presented herself as the new host on the Biggest Loser special. Sweeney talked to former constants and mentioned one or two changes in their lives since they lost weight and asked them weigh in on the larger-than-life scale.

One thing they had in common is that they made healthy living a permanent lifestyle change.

  • Marty, the former teacher, kept off 125 pounds and became a fitness trainer.
  • Eric, who had lost 214 pounds, maintained a loss of 176 pounds. He sold his deli to work with obese people.
  • Pam kept off 60 pounds and completed a triathlon.
  • Pete lost a total of 160 pounds and happily showed off his six-pack abs. He is helping kids fight obesity and works with an adult exercise group.
  • Wylie kept off 97 pounds by working out with intellectually disabled people.

After an update on Matt and Suzie, (who are now married and have a baby) Marty proposes to Amy while she is on the scale and she accepts.

Previews for the next Biggest Loser promise bigger challenges and bigger losses Jillian returns to the show with a twist. Six contestants were sent packing, only to form a separate team with Jillian.
