The Acai berry is being touted as the new superfood able to aid in weight loss, energy enhancement and more. From television infomercials to Internet ads and blogs, the world is all abuzz about this new, purplish-blue colored berry from the rainforest.

Growing in the rainforests of the Amazon, this berry looks somewhat like a purple grape. The berry itself is only 10% pulp which has to be separated from the pit before it can be consumed. Some say it has a tropical flavor while others say it is bitter. Regardless of taste, it is full of antioxidants, omega fatty acids, amino acids, fiber and iron.

Acai berry has been used by Amazon natives for many years for its nutritional value. Typically it is mixed with Guarana seed to heighten the mental senses and increase energy somewhat like caffeine in coffee does. Now available to the world, Acai berry is available in powder and juice form and in capsules or tablets as an alternative to tasting it.
