Some individuals are willing to try anything to shed the extra pounds it seems they can’t get rid of. One diet that seems to have helped many people experience success losing weight is the carb free diet. There are still many people who have trouble understanding the no carbohydrate diet. It’s not difficult to understand the no carbohydrate diet when one learns the basics of how to follow it and what to avoid.

What is the Carb Free Diet?

The carb free diet encompasses many popular diets, including the South Beach Diet, the Atkins Diet, Sugar Busters and Protein Power. These diets all have one thing in common – they center on carbohydrates and the restriction of those. While some of the diets restrict certain foods that are high in carbohydrates, others focus on the number of carbs one takes in during the day. These diets are all popular for the amount of weight a person loses fairly quickly in the beginning. It’s easy to understand why these diets are creating a buzz.

Foods to Avoid

When on the no carb diet, there are certain foods that one should avoid. These are the foods that are high in carbs, such as potatoes, corn and other starchy foods. Other foods that one should avoid include white or bleached flours in breads, biscuits and similar foods. Sugary foods should be avoided as well, such as pre-packaged cookies, cakes and snacks. Pasta is very starchy and loaded with carbs, so most individuals should avoid this food as well. By avoiding these foods and replacing them with foods that are lower in carbs, individuals will lose weight.

Foods That Are Allowed

With the no carb diet, most individuals are encouraged to eat as much of other types of foods as they want. There are more than enough foods allowed, so individuals don’t have to worry about being hungry all the time or not being satisfied. Lean cuts of meat are encouraged, as well as certain types of cheese that are low in carbs. Fish and certain fruits and vegetables are also low in carbs, including green, leafy vegetables. This includes spinach, kale and Brussels sprouts.

How the No Carb Diet Works

It’s easy to understand how the no carb diet works. As we eat sugary and starchy foods, insulin is released into our body. Because of this, the cells in our body absorbs the carbs and our bodies don’t burn the stores of fat that are within our bodies because we already have carbs running through our system to burn. When an individual restricts carbs, the body will burn the stores of fat so that it has a ready source of energy. No carb diets basically force the body to burn fat for energy rather than relying on the food one is eating that day or that week.

The low carb diet has helped many people lose the weight they need to lose and also helps with hunger and cravings. By using the information above, individuals can better understand the no carb diet and how it can help them lose the weight they are sick of carrying around.
