You on a Diet, book cover
YOU on a Diet offers a thorough explanation of how your body works and how metabolism and nutrition affect your weight loss.

As seen on Oprah, Dr. Michael Rozen and Dr. Mehmet Oz have team up again to write a handbook on how your body works in relation to losing weight. Learn how foods affect your chemistry and metabolism and how to eat and exercise to turn it around.

YOU on a Diet is a user-friendly book with tests, tips, myth busters, factoids and mounds of useful information for those trying to lose weight.

The premise for YOU on a Diet is that if you understand how your body functions, you can use that information to maximize your metabolism and weight loss. Based on the information in YOU on a Diet, you can adjust your nutrition and exercise to lose weight by working smarter and not harder.

Often we think of dieting as a battle of willpower, but Rozen and Oz explain that the real battle is between Ghrelin (your hunger signal) and Leptin (your full signal). Knowing how to control these with proper nutrition will give you better weight loss results.

Key Tips from You on a Diet:

  • You-turns. It is okay to make mistakes; just stop yourself and make a "You-turn" to get back on track.
  • Protein first. Eat a handful of nuts 20 minutes before a meal to send signals to your brain that you are satisfied, and you will eat less at meals.
  • Cut calories. Cutting too many calories only leaves us feeling deprived and sends us back to our old habits. Cut only 100 calories a day. You won’t miss, it and the weight will slowly come off.
  • Waist matters. The number of inches of your waist is far more important than the number on the scale. A larger waist is a health risk and you can improve your life by reducing your waist size.
  • Repeat meals. Eating the same thing every day for two of your meals takes the guesswork out of meal planning and prevents you from reaching for tempting foods. Choices can often lead to overeating and eating foods not approved on the diet.
  • Exercise smart. Don’t spend hours at the gym. Use the exercise plan prescribed in YOU on a Diet to rev your metabolism and build muscle without overworking your body.

I highly recommend You on a Diet as a weight loss resource. It is packed full of information on how your body processes food and what foods can help you lose weight. It is put together in an easy-to-read format and presents the information without blaming people for their weight problem.
