Eat More Often

Most people don’t ever think they’ll hear someone tell them to eat more often if they want to lose weight. However, the trick is in the amounts that one eats. If one normally eats 1500 calories a day, the calories should be spread out between 5 to 6 meals and snacks rather than 2 or 3. Smaller, healthier meals more often throughout the day are one great way to raise metabolism and lose weight more quickly.

Choose Metabolism-Boosting Foods

There are a number of foods that are great for helping the body boost metabolism, therefore helping the individual lose weight more quickly. These foods are called negative calorie foods, because the foods require more calories to digest than they actually contain. Green, leafy vegetables are included in foods that help boost metabolism – like cabbage, broccoli, kale, spinach, asparagus and celery. If one can eat these foods raw rather than cooking them, it’s even better. Fish is great for boosting metabolism as well, because it’s typically lean and healthy, but loaded with vitamins and minerals.

Exercise

Exercise is one of the best metabolism boosters available – and it’s free. Individuals should exercise for at least thirty minutes a day, whether they’re walking, jogging, on a stationery bicycle or something else. No one seems to like to exercise, but there are a lot of fun activities that certainly qualify as great exercise and are fun. For instance, swimming, jumping rope, dancing, skating, and climbing can all be wonderful exercises that boost metabolism and build lean muscle. By doing things like this, one can really boost the metabolism and lose weight quickly.

Drink Plenty of Water

Individuals who hope to lose weight should be drinking plenty of water – at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day. As the body burns fat, it releases toxins and water helps flush these toxins from the system. Many experts suggest drinking ice-cold water, as the body will burn calories in order to heat the water. Drinking water will also help the body feel fuller for a longer period of time, helping individuals fight off food cravings that would endanger their daily calorie counts. Drinking water is much better than drinking liquids that would raise the daily calorie count as well.

Be Stress Free

Stress releases a chemical called cortisol into the blood stream. Cortisol slows metabolism, making it more difficult for the body to burn fat and calories. By avoiding stress, individuals can keep their bodies regular and avoid the release of cortisol. Plenty of breaks, aromatherapy, meditation and deep breathing can help one be stress free.
