Simple exercises can be squeezed into the most hectic of days. For instance, try doing pelvic floor exercises, or simply holding and releasing stomach muscles, whilst standing at the sink doing the washing up, or working through a pile of ironing.
Whilst watching TV try to get up and do something every time the adverts come on. Stretching exercises, stomach crunches, running up and down the stairs or simply dancing around the house. Such simple things to do, during what is effectively dead time, can make a huge difference.
Taking a bath? Try doing sit ups whilst waiting for it to fill.
Leave the car at home and walk the kids to school.
Taking the bus? Get off one stop earlier than necessary and walk the rest of the way.
These are all simple, healthy ways to lose a few pounds and maintain that loss. Increasing activity can have a remarkable affect on energy levels too.
Losing Weight Through Diet
For really fast weight loss, increased exercise needs to be combined with a healthy diet. Again, there are some very simple changes that can be introduced.
Sugary snacks are a common source of empty calories, so swap chocolate bars for fruit, carrot sticks or perhaps a fromage frais.
Eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. A healthy diet will certainly help with getting fit, staying healthy and being happy. With five healthy portions packed into every day, there's hardly any room left for fattening snacks.
Buy low fat spreads, one-cal spray oils for cooking with and semi-skimmed or skimmed milk. These sort of changes will hardly even register.
Cut down or, if possible, eliminate alcoholic drinks. They are full of empty calories.
Switch to low sugar/no sugar fizzy drinks, or simply drink juices and water which are much healthier.
Sensible diet choices and increased activity will soon have the weight literally dropping off!
