A dieter can easily become overwhelmed when looking to choose the right diet to lose weight fast. There are many different diets and different opinions of these diets that cause confusion and frustration to many people. Therefore, for successful weight loss, knowing the exact ideal weight to reach is vital. To find the ideal body weight in order to set a goal, the Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, should be used. The BMI calculates the ideal weight based on height, gender, and body type. Once this number is known, place it in an easily visible location that will be seen every day to be a reminder of the goal. This will serve as a daily motivator and reminder to stay on track.

2. Get Medical Advice.

To ensure that the diet will be safe, seek the opinion of an expert. Typically if a diet poses health issues, this can be easily found through online reviews and diet forums, however the combination of the diet and the help of the dieter, is something that a dieter can't figure out on their own. A doctor should be sought, not for the advice of the diet itself, but to see if the dieter has any health concerns that would make certain diets dangerous.

3. Keep a Food Diary.

Knowing what is being consumed is extremely important while on a diet. By writing everything down that is eaten, important information that can determine weight loss success and failure can be visualized, such as:

  • emotional reasons for eating more.
  • bad habits or routines in which extra food is consumed.
  • small snacks or tastes of foods that don't seem like a big deal, but are actually adding up to loads of extra calories.

A food diary will keep a dieter knowledgeable and honest.

Now that it is ensured that the diet is healthy and that the proper tools are in place, it is time to work on the diet. Each diet has different rules, but the common denominator is to consume less calories. This is because every pound of fat is 3500 calories, and the goal is to steadily, safely, and as quickly as possible, shed the calories and the fat.

5. Lose Weight Fast by Burning More Calories.

Now that less is being consumed to create a calorie deficit that is eating away at fat, faster weight loss can be achieved by burning away fat. Depending on the type of diet being used, cardiovascular and strength building exercises can assist in quicker weight loss.

No matter the diet that is chosen, calories will have to be lost in order for fat to be lost. It takes dedication and willpower to be able to consistently lose the necessary calories to lose one to two pounds per week. Though some fad diets will claim faster and easier weight loss, most of them will put health at risk while only teasing the dieter with temporary loss of water weight.
