Tips for getting rid of junk food and filling your cupboards with single-servings of healthy foods.

Trying to lose weight with junk food in the kitchen is like giving up before you even get started. A simple food makeover in yoru kitchen will help you to fight the urge to eat when you are bored, stressed or even celebrating.

Emotional eating is a common problem. It can be difficult to control the urge to eat when the foods you love are right under your nose. You can, however, gain control over your emotional eating habits by finding another activity to engage in and by reducing the amount of tempting foods in your home.

1. Cleanup The first step to gaining control over your eating habits is to cleanout your kitchen cupboards and discard anything that is unhealthy.

Things to toss out:

· Chips

· Peanuts

· Full-fat dressings

· Sugar cereals

· Sodas

· Candy

· Cookies

· Crackers

2. Reorganize The next step is to set up your kitchen in such a way that it is convenient to garb healthy foods. If you have a spouse or children who still enjoy having snack foods in the house, make a special drawer or cupboard just for them. Make sure this space is off-limits to you. Also, buy snacks in single serving portions rather than by the box full. This way, if you do indulge in a treat, you have no choice but to stop at one.

3. Restock The last step to a healthy kitchen is to stock up on fresh foods.

· Fruits

· Veggies

· Almonds

· Whole grains

· Lean meats and poultry

· Yogurt

· Low-fat snacks

· Lights dressings

· Skim milk

Make sure you have fresh foods on hand and sort them into single-serving containers or bag for quick snacks on the go.

Eating healthy doesn't have to be difficult. A food makeover is all you need to set yourself up for success. Without the temptations, you will be able to gain control over food and lose the weight.
