Body Clutter Book Review

Ely and Cilley’s advice to declutter the body and lose weight

Jan 28, 2007 Tracy Rose

Body Clutter comes as a highly recommended weight loss book. It has made a positive change for many women hoping to lose weight and befriend themselves.

Body Clutter by Maria Cilley (the Flylady) and Leanne Ely (the Dinner Diva) is a unique book on a very personal topic: weight loss. Cilley and Ely share their own personal insights, as well as their failures and successes. Like most people, they tried and failed in the battle to lose weight several times before discovering what worked for them.

Body Clutter is not a diet program. The book doesn’t give you a plan to work from, recipes to follow or food restrictions to live by. What is does offer is advice on lifestyle changes that will help you love your body and reconsider everything you put in your mouth. It helps you respect your body and feed it for nourishment rather than feeding your emotions.

Body Clutter suggests that you:

  • Take baby steps.
  • Make friends with the scale.
  • Develop a daily routine.
  • Ask yourself some tough questions about your weight.
  • Stop making excuses for your weight.
  • Practice forgiveness.
  • Give up the idea of perfectionism.
  • Practice portion control.
  • Learn how to handle stress and anger without turning to food.

Body Clutter is proof that changing your attitude and developing a healthy lifestyle is the way to lose weight and keep it off.

Cilley is also the author of Sink Reflections, and has a website dedicated to helping people gain control over their lives, whether it be cleaning their homes or their bodies.
